Chau Doc, first stop past the Thai border if you take the river route into (or out of) Vietnam. Theoretically a big town, it still seems very small. The border crossing has only been open a few years and the town is taking in an increasing number of tourists, but there still isn't a lot going on other than a place to stop for the night.

Vinh Prouc is an OK place to stay, but they ripped me off on the bus to Saigon, which they promised would drop me off in District 1, near where I wanted to stay. Instead I was dropped out of town and had to pay $2 to get into town instead. I suggest just heading out and catching an express bus from the station, it'll be cheaper and get you to the same place.
