Göreme

Turkey Situated in the midst of thousands of "fairy chimneys", Göreme is a popular destination in famous Cappodocia. The landscape is surreal, with soft rocks first carved by wind and then by human hands into houses, mosques and churches. It's a good spot to hire a bike or just to hike around and take in the scenery. Many hotels also offer the option of cave based housing, which is something of a novelty (although the low ceilings can be annoying).
