Nuweiba
Region:
Egypt Nuweiba is a small beachside town, with some snorkelling and diving possibilities off shore. There is a collection of camps, hotels and restaurants north of the town at Tarabin, which is probably the best place to stay.
It seems that the 2004 bombings of Nuweiba and nearby attacks in 2005 and 2006 have had a massive and lasting affect on tourism to the area, as there is (in the winter, at least) far more capacity than people to use it here - there are many restaurants and camps which seem to be completely empty, although not quite abandoned.
Despite the slightly ghost town feel along the main beach road in Tarabin, Nuweiba is a great place to stay and relax for a while.
