New Zealand Very close to Mount Ruapehu (and Turoa and Whakapapa, the skifields on the mounta), but far more laid back and quiet than Ohakune, is Raetihi. Quiet streets, nice cafes (check out Clown Cafe and the Angel Louise Cafe), it's a very relaxing place to hang out.
