India Shimla is a popular get away spot for the more affluent Indian crowd, and the local prices show it. There's a reason it's popular though, and that pretty much boils down to the weather, which was cool and refreshing (sleeping under a blanket is such a luxury, let me tell ya).
The Hotel Woodland, up the road to the right of Christ Church is a decent enough place to stay; 400 Rs, including tout fee (late at night, hard to find places) got us a decent room, hot water, colour tv, good view.
The walk up to Jakhu Temple is steep but satisfying; good views and entertaining monkeys make it well worth while, although the temple itself isn't so flash.
