Nha Trang

Nha Trang is the biggest beach location in Vietnam, as far as I'm aware. Snorkeling, diving, messing around on the beach and drinking are all available in spades. For some strange reason, there are about a million places serving Italian food - pizza and pasta seem to be everywhere. Haven't seen it anywhere else over here, but I'd estimate 75, of places over here serve Italian food.

Another curiousity is that internet in Nha Trang seems to be strangely crippled; elsewhere it's been pretty snappy, but Nha Trang is slow as anything. There are places available at 3000d per hour, which makes it not so bad.

As noted, many places available to eat. Shop around, there's a huge range of places offering similar fare at wildly different prices; you'll get better surroundings for your higher prices I guess.

Also, Nha Trang has set a record low for the price of beer. San Miguel apparently have a brewery here (although this could have been a language misunderstanding between me and the guy I was drinking coffee with) and you can pick up one litre jugs for 6000d. Yes folks, that's $NZ0.6. And it's not a bad beer either :) Standard prices apply in western oriented bars, of course.

For desert, check out Kem Piano. Kem, with the appropriate phonetic decorations, is Vietnamese for icecream, and you can pick up three scoops here for 6000d, along with fruit shakes at 4000d. I'll update with street names when I've got a map with me, but it's on the second street from the beach, diagonally across the intersection from the Sacombank and ATM.
