Not a great spot for tourists really, Rasht is a bustling city near the popular Iranian destinations on the Caspain coast. The main drawcard for foreign tourists is to head up to the cute hill town of Masuleh, which is a short 70km from Rasht.

Like elsewhere in Iran, the people are very friendly though, possibly because even fewer foreign tourists come here than in the rest of Iran.

The Salar Excellent Hotel is a bit of a dive, but has cheap prices (95,000 for a triple with a shower, uncertain about the singles).

Shared taxis to Fuman (and from there to Masuleh) are at the square down the road from Shohada Square (the main one). If you're on Imam Khomeini Street, looking into Shohoda, turn left and walk to the next square. Turn right on the square and they'll be along there. The price should be around 3000RI.
