Things to Do in Plovdiv
Plovdiv
Plovidv is officially the recipient of my newly created Worst Labelled Streets in the World award. The city isn't bad, with a cute old town nestled on top of one of the several hills (undergoing heavy reconstruction) and several Roman era ruins, but the old town aside, finding a street sign here is just not possible. The LP map leaves a lot to be desired as well, it's completely inaccurate in some cases.
Things to do: Look at Roman ruins (mostly free), visit the old town. Climb some of the hills for a view of the city.
Places to stay: The Raisky Kat Hostel (no individual website; listed on all the usual suspects) is decent, with cheap rooms, not dorms. 20lv for my own room (due to small numbers of guests in winter) is all good in my books!
The Queen Mary Guest House isn't too bad either. I paid 30 for a family room (three beds), which, if it's the same rate for multiple people, isn't a bad deal for three. No breakfast included though.
