The small and quiet town of Phimai is built on top of a site inhabited for thousands of years, and an impressive temple complex from the 11th century remains at the heart of the town; various minor sites are dotted throughout the town and surrounding region as well.

Location:PhimaiThe main bus station for Phimai is somewhere out of town, but you can jump on and off near the southeast corner of Prasat Hin Phimai, where the night market is held, more or less. See the map to the right (double click to zoom in), or jump to the map for Phimai.

Location:PhimaiA small night market provides cheap eats in the evening in Phimai. See if you can find the "sar coo sai moo" - small, chewy clear balls with sweetish nuts and pork inside, served with fried garlic, chilli and lettuce. 10 baht for a small bag of them at the time of writing.
