Things to Do in Sangkhlaburi
Sangkhlaburi
Up in the hills between Kanchunaburi and Myanmar is Sangkhlaburi, a quiet, relaxing spot, without too many tourists and without much to do but wander around and relax. A massive lake, formed by the formation of a damn back in the '80s provides a home for many now, with house boats and floating fishing platforms dotted all over, although most densely packed in between the Thai town of Sangkhla and the Mon village opposite, near Thailand's longest wooden bridge.
Things to Do
Big Wooden Bridge

Location:SangkhlaburiPrice:FreeStretching between the Thai and Mon villages in Sangkhlaburi is the longest wooden bridge in Thailand. There are a few shops on the Mon side and a few restaurants up the main end. The Thai side has a couple of places selling coffee and a small restaurant perched on an unstable looking platform - the view is good though.
Huay Malai
elyobo — Tue, 03/02/2009 - 2:26am
Location:SangkhlaburiPrice:FreeHuay Malai is a small Karen village around 17km from Sangkhlaburi. While there's not a lot to draw you to the town itself, the ride there is somewhat scenic; I rode out at 7am on a motorcycle, and could only catch glimpses through the thick fog, so I can't promise anything I guess - what I could see looked great though, steep valleys, terraces, hills, jungle and whatnot.
Riverside Restaurants and Swimming

Location:SangkhlaburiPrice:UnknownThis spot in between Three Pagoda's Pass and Sangkhlaburi has a pleasant swimming spot with riverside restaurants. Tubes are available for hire.
Three Pagodas Pass
elyobo — Tue, 03/02/2009 - 2:34am
Location:SangkhlaburiPrice:FreeThree Pagoda Pass (aka Chedi Saam Ong) is a Thai/Myanmar border, although it's currently closed to foreigners at least; it seems many people just walk over it anyway, as it's not really guarded... at all...
Wat Wang Wiwekaram
elyobo — Tue, 03/02/2009 - 1:54am
Location:SangkhlaburiPrice:FreeFeaturing a massively overgrown golden chedi that's so bright on a sunny day it's hard to look at close up, Wat adsf is a pleasant walk over from the Sangkla town. Head over the wooden bridge and through the Mon village, past the school, to get there. Entrance is free.
