Amman
While not a particularly impressive city, Amman does have a few sights worth seeing and makes a convenient base for exploring the northern areas of Jordan. It's a more pleasant place in the spring and summer months than in the middle of winter, when its pleasantly mild climate makes it a welcome escape from the heat of the neighbouring countries.

12 JOD Somewhat packpacker oriented, the Cliff Hotel is basic and somewhat dirty, but reasonably cheap. The staff are friendly and helpful, which somewhat makes up for the place itself.
