Places to Stay in Alexandria
Alexandria
Although it's not given much of a writeup by the guidebooks, Alexandria is definitely a worthwhile stopover, especially if you're on a longer trip. The city has a somewhat western feel to it, and due to the lack of international tourism the touts are few on the ground and reasonably laid back.

All the rooms we saw slept three and shared two bathrooms (one for women, one for men). Prices were 60/80 for two people in a room without/with a sea view.
New Savoy Hotel

Union Hotel
elyobo — Fri, 27/03/2009 - 12:08pm
A pleasant dining area with a good view is unfortunately let down by somewhat poky and overpriced rooms. Prices range upwards from 57 + taxes for a double with shared bathroom.
