Siwa

A desert oasis far to the west of Egypt, Siwa is very far geographically and culturally from the other parts of Egypt we've been. Friendly people and the beautiful desert make this a mandatory stop on any trip to Egypt as far as I'm concerned.

Food wise, the place has a much better range than one might expect from such a small spot in the middle of nowhere. The people are friendly, especially compared to the general treatment tourists get up the Nile valley. There's plenty to do, from desert safaris to exploring ruins to lazing around in hot pools drinking chilled karkaday.

Places to Stay

Yousef Hotel

elyobo — Thu, 19/03/2009 - 1:12am

Location:
Siwa
Price:
25 EGP double / 35 EGP triple with shared bathroom

Cheap and reasonably clean, Yousef is a decent option right in the middle of Siwa. Rooms are cheap and basic. Don't bother with a room with the bathroom "inside"; these are actually outside, just reserved for the use of one room.
