Tartus
Although there's not much to draw tourists to the town itself, Tartus is very friendly and is well located to explore many of the sites along the coast of Syria. Sit down in the old town center with a coffee and pipe and consider the nearby options - Krak de Chevaliers, Safita, Qala'at Marqab, Hosn Soleiman, Arawad and more.

Location:TartusTartus has a few great icecream stores around here, where a massive cone will set you back 25 to 30 SYP. They firmly believe in packing on as many flavours as they possibly can, but you can restrict them to two or three if you try hard.

Location:TartusThe coffee here was the worst I've had anywhere in the Middle East, but otherwise this is a standard single-company bus depot.

Location:TartusTaxis should be no more than 40 SYP to and from town, but probably not really that much. Departures are frequent to almost anywhere, we never spent more than 5 minutes here.
