Aleppo

Places to Stay

Al Baba

elyobo — Fri, 08/05/2009 - 8:26am

Location:
Aleppo
Price:
400 SYP double w/out bathroom

A very basic spot with small rooms and shared bathroom, but the price is right. The owner wasn't keen on actually providing the discount he offered though (starting price was 500 SYP), but did eventually come through. At least one room has a somewhat noisy balcony option which is useful for drying your clothes.

Somar Hotel

elyobo — Fri, 08/05/2009 - 8:28am

Location:
Aleppo
Price:
US$20+ for doubles

A mid range option providing friendly service with good English, but otherwise providing marginally better rooms for significantly higher prices.

Spring Flower Hotel

elyobo — Fri, 08/05/2009 - 8:30am

Location:
Aleppo
Price:
500/650 SYP without/with bathroom

Possibly the most backpacker-ish place in all of Syria, the Spring Flower provides everything that you'd expect - food, washing, internet, currency exchange, tours and whatnot. The rooms are at reasonable prices, but you'll get most of the other things cheaper if you go elsewhere; in particular, our daily staples of 'net, coffee and sheesha are rather steep here.
