Amasya

Pleasantly located astride a river in a steep mountain valley, Amasya is a pleasant place to relax off the main tourist track. There isn't all that much to see or do, other than to look around, but that's part of the appeal. The Ottoman style housing along the river, the cloud topped mountains, the river, the castle and the hillside tombs combine to make a very appealing setting.

Places of Interest

  • Bus Station (Amasya)

    elyobo — Mon, 11/05/2009 - 11:35pm

    Location:
    Amasya

Located a little way out of town, the best way to get here is by booking a ticket at a bus company in town and using the free service that they almost all provide. If not, apparently dolmushes run from the main square.

  • Main Square (Meydan)

    elyobo — Mon, 11/05/2009 - 11:30pm

    Location:
    Amasya

The main square has a couple of bus company offices here, including Metro. Generally they'll offer a free service out to the bus station as well, just ask what time when you book your ticket.

  • Tolkat Yildizi (Bus Company)

    elyobo — Mon, 11/05/2009 - 11:32pm

    Location:
    Amasya

This bus company is the only one to have daytime departures for Trabzon, 11.30am for 35 YTL. It can be difficult to spot - look for the Garanti Bank, it's right next door.
