Amasya
Pleasantly located astride a river in a steep mountain valley, Amasya is a pleasant place to relax off the main tourist track. There isn't all that much to see or do, other than to look around, but that's part of the appeal. The Ottoman style housing along the river, the cloud topped mountains, the river, the castle and the hillside tombs combine to make a very appealing setting.

Basic, but well located and the price is right. Friendly staff, tolerably clean toilets. See several rooms if you can - most are small, but we got a big one for the same price. Someone nearby thoughtfully provided free wireless by failin
g to secure their network.

Plenty of hotels along this side of the river, but I have no idea on the pricing. I'm guessing it'll be more than the ones around town.
