Shush
Shush, a small town not too far from the Iraqi border. There main attractions are Choqa Zanbil and Haft Tappeh, two remnants of the ancient Elamite civilisation that was present here a couple of millenia BC. While Haft Tappeh isn't that exciting, Choqa Zanbil is an impressive site, a huge multilevel stepped pyramid (aka ziggurat) set amidst arid semi-desert land.
There's only one hotel in town, as far as we know, the Apadana Hotel, and it charges prices reflecting this. A twin room came down to 250,000, after an initial price of 300,000, and wasn't great value at that. Still, aircon and a sitdown throne are appreciated I suppose.
