Kashan

Kashan has some things well worth visiting that I hadn't come across elsewhere. Unfortunately the accomodation available is both overpriced and unappealing, so I recommend a hit and run technique, taking in as much as you can and getting back out again.

The restored old houses mentioned in the lonely planet are very much worth the effort of seeing. Like most "museums", prices have dropped so that foreigners pay the same prices as locals. Restoration seems to have come to a halt; when we visited in 2007, it was underway everywhere we went, but there doesn't seem to be much happening right now and little progress has been made since then.

Places to Stay

Golestan Inn

elyobo — Sat, 23/05/2009 - 11:18pm

Location:
Kashan
Price:
220,000 for a double w/breakfast, shared bathroom (discounts available)

A decent place if you can bargain down the price, but be sure to check that the sheets on your bed have been changed. Rooms come with fan, AC, a fridge and a heater, so you should be fine in all seasons. Breakfast (tea, bread, jam, cheese and eggs) is also included, and is taken in the bedroom which is quite pleasant.
