Plans and Google

First up, it would appear that someone's Bebo page now outranks me in the search results for my own name. Now, Liam O'Boyle isn't the most common name in the world (except, perhaps, in certain parts), so I almost expected to have a monopoly on that top search result. I could take most things, but Bebo?

The inner workings of the Google search algorithm are reasonably obscure, deliberately so, but one thing is clear. If you make a link on your site to this one, with my name as the link text (e.g. Liam O'Boyle) then it may help. Reclaim the name!

So, that dealt with, what else is happening here? June has been and gone, and is now surrounded by riots, as you've probably heard. I'd still rather be there than most other places though.
And vaguely related to that, I plan on resuming my travels around the end of the year. Probably with a new camera in tow (although, I don't have the best track record with cameras... they seem to get broken/stolen/lost). Yes, that means you'll be inundated with emails from this site pointing you to photos! If that's not a good thing, you can disable the emails in your preferences after you log in. I do, of course, look through for those that have disabled my emails and sign them up to other spam mail lists instead.

The projected route will be something along the lines of Thailand - Myanmar - Malaysia - Indonesia - Phillipines - Thailand, but it could well flow in the opposite direction. Or head back and forth like a yoyo, using Thailand as a convenient base for SE Asian travel. I guess we'll see.

Back in Western Australia, I have some new photos available. We headed down south towards Margaret River the other weekend and you can check them out on the map or in the gallery. Enjoy!

As a final reward to those who have made it this far, Stuff.co.nz has a decent (but brief) article on web comics. I didn't really read comics as a kid (although I was jealous of my friend Leif, who seemed to have heaps), but I have, over the years, been lured into reading quite a few. I read at least seven of those mentioned in the article, xkcd being possibly the geekiest and funniest; check them out.
