Back On the Road

On The Road is coming back to life! After the last year of being not-so-on-the-road, the next trip is now about to begin. The break has been well worth it, with some time back in NZ catching up with family and a lot of time here in Perth wiping out the student loan and stockpiling funds for future travel.
So it's time to put those funds to good use. Plans have been made, remade, remade again and finally we have an outline hammered out. An outline we are so confident in that we've actually bought tickets as well - we depart Perth on the 23rd of December, relax in SE Asia for a while, before heading off to Jordan on the 3rd of February. The plan is a little hazy for the next few months and then we fly back to Thailand on 23rd of June, or thereabouts.
In between times, we plan on exploring Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Israel, more or less in that order. We're there in the middle of winter, which should make things pleasant in Egypt anyway - we 'll get that done first, most likely, before heading up towards Syria where things are a little colder. I hear that it's possible to snowboard there, so I may manage to escape onto the mountains, something badly needed given that I've missed what was apparently an incredible season back in NZ.
In order to keep you painfully aware of our progress, the site has again been reworked. I'm not sure whether I'm doing this for you guys or myself, really, I just like to tinker... Anyhow, June has pointed out that it can be hard to find things on the site, so I've made things as simple as I really can, as well as adding still more complicated stuff. Key points.
- Centre right - search functionality. If you can't find something, search for it.
- Below that, a list of the most recently updated locations and photo galleries. If I've just updated, the photos and whatnot will be linked in there. Dead simple, huh?
- If you just want the most recent photos, choose photography up on the top right, the most recent 50 photos added will be there for you.
- If you want to see where I've been, click on the travel section to get the good old travel map. You can choose the dates shown now, and turn off all the markers if you like, so feel free to trim it down if it's too crowded.
- Too lazy to click on pictures? Want to see them all? Easy! Most pages with photos will now show you a slideshow instead. Try going to Perth and clicking "Show Photos as a Slideshow" near the photos.
There are plenty of other goodies in there as well, so feel free to explore and give me any feedback. If you don't want to receive these emails, just log into the site and change your settings to say so; there's a link at the bottom of the email that will take you to the exact place you do this. If this is too hard for you, then email me and I'll do it for you :)
As per usual, there's a small advert at the bottom of most pages. Feel free to give them a click, google hasn't given me any money in ages.
Other than that - look forward to more news and (far too many) photos coming soon. June and I will both be packing cameras, so that's double the potential number. We'll try to trim them down to the same number and double the quality instead ;)
