Chocolate at Easter

Perth

It's been a while since I've noticed an Easter go by. Normally, of course, it's a four day weekend, not a common occurrence. I almost feel cheated by the fact that I get no extra holiday this year. I suppose the last two I've had nothing extra as well - in Thailand for 2006 and Iran for 2007 - but that doesn't leave me much room to complain now, does it...

This year, however, I'm enjoying it in Perth, which represents options unavailable back in NZ; swimming in particular, and sun, an added bonus. So today I've been out and about over a relaxing 60km trip, departing Subiaco and heading through town, across to the south side of the Swan river and along the banks past numerous kite surfers, windsurfers, pelicans, seagulls and many small children all the way out to Fremantle. Brief stops for coffee (aside: I've got it figured out - just don't ask for a long black here, you'll get an americano, ask for espresso and get some hot water - the coffee isn't as bad as I had feared) and a browse through the markets allowed time for my hunger to catch up; so down to the fishing harbour for fish and chips (actually, I'd been here the day before, as well, for lunch at the Little Creatures brewery. Their Pale Ale isn't too bad, although Three Boys, from back home, is still leaving them dead.

From Freo we headed north along the coast, to the popular Cottesloe Beach for a dip, before heading back along the train tracks to Subi.

And this is a fair sample of my activities for the past two weeks over here in Perth. There's been a little job hunting (unsuccessful so far - I may look for permanent positions soon), some domestic activities, but in the main, cycling, working (I still work for Treshna). And enjoying one or two of Peter's fine homebrew as well, of course.

And to finish off the day, I've just sat in the back yard, enjoying a Kangaroo steak with salad and beer. Not a bad way to pass the day. I hope your day passed as well as mine.
