Not my holidays, off course, just the suprise factor of holidays here being on a Friday. I knew that, in this case, but the implications didn't quite dawn on me until early this morning, 500km away from the skifield I could have been on instead...

My visa for Iran expires tomorrow, so I wanted to get it sorted out today. By reputation, Tehran is a bureaucratic nightmare when it comes to visa extensions, so I thought I'd hop down to Esfahan overnight, get it done, then whip back to Tehran the next day. All well and good, I think happily to myself at the agent's yesterday, I got tickets no problem, even though tomorrow is a public holiday. But somehow it didn't occur to me that the office would be shut...

Ah well. Esfahan is a sight for sore eyes anyway, just walking along clean, pleasant, tree lined avenues, with green lawns is almost worth the trip in itself. I'll be back here soon enough, so am holding off checking out the major attractions anyhow.
