So, spamming your inboxes once again, even though I haven't a lot to tell. A vaguely exciting day, with lots of walking through snow and even more waiting in the Embassy of Iran. First walked 2km through the snow... I arrived... and waited... then went down the road to a net cafe and waited some more... then went back... discovered that they had not received any notification from Istanbul (where I had applied for the visa) and that I would have to contact them... walked 2km back to the Hotel I'm staying at, made a phone call to Istanbul... walked back to the embassy... waited for three hours... filled in application forms again... walked another km each way to and from a bank... gave everything to the embassy, assuming that I was, in fact, applying all over again and would have to wait another two weeks... and was finally pleasantly surprised by my passport turning up with an approved visa inside!
As mentioned, the snow has been coming down thick and fast. There's at least 15cm settled on the ground in the city (in addition to what was already here), so there's probably been even more up on the mountain. Weather forecast for tomorrow is clear, with very little wind. I don't think I'm going to be able to sleep tonight, it's like waiting for Christmas presents to arrive when you're a kid!
