OnTheRoad

We are out of Luang Prabang today; hooked up a trip with one day of mountain biking (on real bikes - almost everything over here is sized for really small people), two days of trekking and a day of kayaking. We crash out in local villages overnight; apparently there have only been a handful of trips along this route, so most people have scarcely seen white folks before, so instant celebrity status!

So, I'll be out of contact at least until the 5th, probably until the 6th 'cause I'll be ready for sleep once I return to Luang Prabang.

Yesterday was also good fun; hooked up some bikes and went across to the other side of the Mekong river and just followed random roads all day. Until one of my pedals came loose and we realised that we were pretty much lost. And it was getting late.

However, with a little bit of negotiating, we were able to find a local with one of the crazy tractor/truck type things they have over here who would take us somewhere - we weren't quite sure where, but we were willing to go along. As it turned out, they took us back exactly where we needed to go, by the Mekong, so we tipped handsomely :)
