Meuang Tam

elyobo — Tue, 13/01/2009 - 7:58pm

Location:
Nang Rong

Although not worth a trip of it's own, Meuang Tam is worth adding on to a trip to Phanom Rung. Combination tickets for both can be bought for 150 baht (for foreigners), or it's 100 baht for Meuang Tam itself.

The ruins follow a similar layout to the top section of Phanom Rung, with four cruciform entrances, naga bridges etc. However, the prangs within are not so large nor as well maintained. Within the outer wall are four large pools, possibly explained by an enscription explaining that the temple is dedicated to water.

A small visitors centre nearby has some additional details and provides a flyer that gives a rundown on architectural details of the ruins themselves.

Price:
100 baht (foreigner)
